Prague – As Pretty as it Gets

Beautiful. A city that has been on my bucket list for a few decades now. Finally … and it did not disappoint.

The occasion was a stag do over a long weekend at the end of May. Let me get my one fear I initially had out the way. I expected there would be several other stag or hen parties taking place at the same time which might have put a damper on the experience. This is did not materialise in any great way. It proved to be a perfect weekend.

We mainly explored the central area and only venturing across the river to walk the Charles Bridge. If I return here I would hire a bicycle to explore the large parks that I know lay across the river to the north and west.

There is so much to do and see. The places and people were all welcoming, the food and drink very affordable and of high quality. We stayed in pleasant and affordable luxury at the NYX Hotel, located in a central and ideal location for sightseeing. There were too many really nice cafes, bars, and restaurants to choose from in the neighbourhood, and the main square and shops are barely a 10-15 minute walk away.

I particularly enjoyed a five-course medieval banquet. For an inclusive price there is an abundance of food, drink, and live music and dance entertainment to enjoy. Fair warning the venue is very warm inside. We also went go-karting, at an out-of-town venue with hotel pick-up, which was amazing.

This is a beautiful city for couples or groups, and young and old alike. So highly recommended and I am sure to make a return visit.
